Everything you need to know about MyCitizenPrep. Still have questions? Contact us — we're happy to help.

Getting Started

MyCitizenPrep is a study tool for the USCIS naturalization civics test. We help you learn every official test question, practice with real-feel test simulations, and explore America through fun games — all in one friendly app.

More than a flashcard app, we help you truly understand the history and government behind every answer.

We break the civics test into 3 simple steps:

  • LEARN — Read each official question and answer. Tap cards to reveal explanations.
  • PRACTICE — Complete each lesson 3 times with 100% accuracy to prove mastery.
  • PROVE — Take a full practice Quiz just like the real test. Take it as many times as you want.

We also include interactive games in the "Take a Break" section to help you explore American history, places, and people — without the pressure of a test.

Most users need 2 to 6 weeks of steady study. It depends on your comfort with English and how much time you can give each day.

The study section has 25 short lessons (about 10 minutes each). Doing one lesson a day finishes the material in under 4 weeks.

About the USCIS Test

The civics portion of the USCIS naturalization test covers U.S. government, history, and symbols. A USCIS officer asks you questions out loud during your interview.

Test format can change over time. Always check uscis.gov for the latest test format and number of questions.

Yes. The civics test is conducted in English. The USCIS officer will also check your ability to read, write, and speak basic English during the interview.

Every question includes audio playback so you can hear how it sounds in English. We recommend practicing your answers out loud — the Quiz feature is great for this. Take it multiple times until the answers feel natural to say.

Don't panic. If you don't pass your first time, USCIS gives you a second chance. You'll usually be scheduled for a re-test within 60–90 days.

This is why we recommend practicing until you feel very confident. MyCitizenPrep lets you take practice Quizzes as many times as you want.

Absolutely. It's never too early to start. Whether you're on a K-1 visa, waiting for your green card, or just beginning the naturalization process, studying early gives you more time to learn the material at your own pace.

Many people in the immigration process start preparing months or even years before their citizenship interview. The civics questions don't change often, so what you learn now will still apply when your test day comes.

Using the App

The civics questions are shown in English, because that's how the real USCIS test is given. We include a Spanish translation toggle so you can see questions in both English and Spanish as you study.

The test itself is conducted in English, and our platform helps you learn the answers in English with translation support along the way. More languages are planned.

Yes. MyCitizenPrep works on any device with a web browser — phones, tablets, and computers. You can study on the bus, at home, during a lunch break, or wherever you are.

Sign in with your email and password, or use Sign in with Google for one-tap access. If you forget your password, use the "Forgot password?" link on the login page to reset it.

The games in the "Take a Break" section are for fun learning. They help you explore American history, famous places, and culture — without the pressure of a test.

Games are not graded. They don't affect your test readiness. They're just a relaxing way to learn more about American history and culture. Many users find they remember facts better after playing games.
